the CCHS - Spring Nevada High School
Proficiency Exam Schedule

March 8 - 11, 2010 will be a LATE START (10:50) day
for all students NOT testing.

All sophomores and any junior or senior still needing to pass the
reading, math, writing, and science exam
MUST be at school at regular time.

All students will be registering for their classes beginning next Monday, March 8th & ending Sunday, March 14th. The Power School portal will "open" and students will be responsible for entering their requests from home. Those students that do not have access to a computer will do it in the English Computer lab the following week.

Counselors will be checking over the requests to make sure they have the required classes/credits needed to graduate. The only changes made to a students schedule will be if they don't have the required course(s), the prerequisite, or have already taken the class & can't get repeated credit.

Instructions & Tips for Completing the Registration Form found on the last page of the CCHS Course Catalog:

Bring your completed  Registration Form (inside of back page of catalog)to the computer lab.  You will be notified when your assigned time is.

1.  Based on your current Math class and teacher recommendation write in your Math selection (you must earn 4 credits by the end of your senior year).

2.  If you have not completed the 3 Science credits that are required to     graduate please select and enter a request for Science per your teacher's recommendation or based on your need.

3.  Write in the correct level for English

4.  Select the next 4 classes keeping graduation requirements in mind (consult   page 3 & 4 regarding the different diplomas awarded at CCHS & graduation requirements for each of those).  There is an error on Page 4 regarding the Honor School Diploma. It should state 4 Math Credits instead of 3.

·   Pay close attention to the Grade Level & Prerequisites for each class. You will not be allowed to take the class if you don't meet the requirements.

·   Take time to read the description of each Course so you understand what the class is about.

·   Class request is NEVER a guarantee of placement.

·   If there is a mistake on your schedule you must fill out a SCHEDULE CORRECTION form that you will receive with your schedule.

·   At the beginning of the school year you will have 2 weeks to add/drop. Consequences for dropping a class after that period of time are spelled out in the student handbook.

·   Although a Foreign Language is not required to graduate from CCHS, or attend college in the state of Nevada, outside colleges want a minimum of 2 years of a Foreign Language.

·   Student and parent signature is required on the Registration Form.
